Revelation 8 THE SEVENTH SEAL

8:1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was
silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.



This is a momentous revelation. Can you imagine
the utter stillness for a half an hour? Wait a minute.
This takes place outside of the Time-Space Contiuim.

What does this mean?

If a day is a thousand years to the Lord,
then what is 1/2 of 1 hour in 24 hour cycle,
multiplied by 3650... ?

Or does this convey something deeper?

I'm going to read before I comment.

One of my favorite commentaries
is Matthew Henry. It's tried and
true. Here's his solid interpretation.

Read Revelation 8:1-6

Verse 1-6 - The seventh seal is opened. There was profound silence in heaven for a space; all was quiet in the church, for whenever the church on earth cries through oppression, that cry reaches up to heaven; or it is a silence of expectation.

Trumpets were given to the angels, who were to sound them.

The Lord Jesus is the High Priest of the church, having a golden censer, and much incense, fulness of merit in his own glorious person.

Would that men studied to know the fulness that is in Christ, and endeavoured to be acquainted with his excellency.

Would that they were truly persuaded that Christ has such an office as that of Intercessor, which he now performs with deep sympathy.

No prayers, thus recommended, was ever denied hearing and acceptance. These prayers, thus accepted in heaven, produced great changes upon earth. The Christian worship and religion, pure and heavenly in its origin and nature, when sent down to earth and conflicting with the passions and worldly projects of sinful men, produced remarkable tumults, here set forth in prophetical language, as our Lord himself declared, Luke 12:49.

MH Commentary is a great resource for me.

I can relate to what he's saying about the 1/2 hour silence.

I have been taught that this probably denotes the apostate
churches, lacking in prayer or intercession. In their prosperity,
they were carnal and unclean. Their light is not of Christ.
Their prayers do not rise like the smoke of sweet incense.

The plagues begin. Woe. Woe. Woe to anyone left
behind. I pity those with children, as the Lord
said. There will be no way to comfort them, in the
atrocities and natural disasters which will plague
mankind for 3 1/2 years.

And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.

7 trumpets = Trumpets denote both celebration (Wedding
of the Lamb) and destruction ( Walls of Jericho)
and Holy Convocation (Yom Kippur.)

Rev 8:3

And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer [it] with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

As Matthew Henry points out, our prayers have
tremendous power and potential in Heaven.

Gold represents the purity of God.

Psa 141:2

Let my prayer be set forth before thee [as] incense; [and] the lifting up of my hands [as] the evening sacrifice.

Rev 8:4

And the smoke of the incense, [which came] with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.

The sound and ethereal mist of our
own mortal cries for mercy, and all
the words of intercession are brought
to the Lord, through the angel's
hand in the censer.

Rev 8:5

And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast [it] into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

Rev 8:6

And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

VOICES = PHONE (fone-ay) =>refers to both spoken voice
as well as musical instruments, and music's sound (TRUMPETS BLOWING)

Rev 8:7	The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. Trees and green grass are burnt. Everything is deconstructing. Instead of Creation, each angel removes 1/3 of key parts of the creation.
Rev 8:8	And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; 1/3 of SEA becomes blood. 1/3 of sealife dies (already happening) 1/3 of ships destroyed (war)
Rev 8:9	And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.
Rev 8:10	And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; Star falls from heaven- like a glowing meterite Poisons the 1/3 of fresh water, rivers, wellsprings. Very symbolic language. "Fountain of waters" usually refers to life...
Rev 8:11	And the name of the star is called Wormwood; and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter. Mankind begins to die from the poisoned, or radioactive water.
Rev 8:12	And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise. 1/3 SUN Moon STARS smitten
Rev 8:13	And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!

The last three trumpets begin the worst tribulation
in human history. Nothing can compare to the level
of depravity and evil.
